Chase County well-represented at State Fair

    Chase County 4-H youths and volunteers were well-represented at the Nebraska State Fair in several areas with inside exhibits as well as dog competitions.
    Ribbon placings included added recognition of two Chase County youths—Sawyer Sauder and Alex Nelson. The online results signified those 4-Hers with a rainbow ribbon by their names. Another special award was given to Mandy Sandoval. Her art entry was selected for display in the loft gallery at UNL.
    Indoor displays were shown in the 4-H Building on the State Fairgrounds in Grand Island Aug. 25 to Sept. 4.
    A special ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 27, in Five Points Bank Arena on the Nebraska State Fairgrounds, 4-H volunteers from across Nebraska were recognized for their impact on the program including Arlys Cupp and Lindsey Mendenhall. Cupp was recognized as the Outstanding Adult Volunteer for Engagement Zone 4. This award is given to one individual in each of Nebraska’s Extension Engagement ones and is a current volunteer who has served more than four years.
    Mendenhall was named the 2023 Nebraska Outstanding Youth Volunteer. This award is given to a 4-H member, ages 14-18, who has made a meaningful impact on their local community.
    Three members from the Perkins-Chase 4-H Livestock Judging Team were named to the Senior All-State Team of the Great Plains Livestock Judging Circuit. Members were awarded belt buckles at the Grand Drive of the Nebraska State Fair on Sunday, Aug. 27 in Five Points Bank Arena.  Members of the Perkins-Chase Team who were recognized on the All-State Team: Jayme Gittlein, Tessa Smith and Brylie Robinson.
