Liliana Marquez | For The Imperial Republican Friday focused on fine arts by students as the arts council hosted its Final Friday event at Broken Arrow Cellars. The 9th Street Singers at Chase County Schools performed as part of the entertainment.
Arts council hosts student Fine Arts Night
A student Fine Arts Night was hosted at Broken Arrow Cellars Friday by the Chase County Area Arts Council.
Elementary art teacher Erin Sloan, grade 7-8 art teacher Emma McConnell and high school art teacher Chelsea Zuege helped plan and organize the event.
The visual art displays were open to the public from 3-8 p.m. It was free to enter, see the artwork and watch the performances.
Broken Arrow Cellars provided snacks and drinks.
Music performances began at 7 p.m. ranging from elementary to high school students. Third grade students entertained with their recorders under the direction of Jodie Liess.
Using the piano, flute and violin, two Adle siblings played several pieces of music. Lastly, the 9th Street Singers performed with David Rushing directing.
The event, showcasing the fine arts, was a part of the “Final Friday Events” which were organized by the arts council during March, April and May.
The Chase County Area Arts Council promotes the fine arts by sponsoring music, theater and visual arts events.
The council’s officers include Marcia Bauerle as president, Chelsea Zuege as vice president, Kay Younger as secretary and Matthew Musgrove, treasurer.
The council is currently planning and organizing events for next year and will soon launch a membership drive.
Anyone interested in becoming an arts council member can contact Bauerle, Zuege or Younger. The council meets each last Thursday of the month at Broken Arrow Cellars. Those interested can also follow the Chase County Area Arts Council Facebook page.
