“Leap” into fall at Wallace annual festival starting Sept. 10

The annual Wallace Fall Festival is fast approaching with this year’s theme being “Leap Into Fall.”
The event kicks off Sunday morning, Sept. 10, with a golf tournament, with the bulk of the activities scheduled the following weekend, Sept. 15-17 in Wallace. All event times appear in CT.
Starting at 10 a.m. Sunday morning, Sept. 10, a golf tournament will take place at Oregon Trails Golf Course in Sutherland. To sign up, contact Scott Sauser at 308-340-1469.
On Friday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m., a trap shoot will be held. Anyone is welcome. Those interested should contact Quenton Smith at 402-802-7336.
The bulk of the activities for the festival get started Saturday morning, Sept. 16 with the annual pancake and sausage feed. The event will be at the Wallace Fire Hall with a free-will donation.
The 5K run/walk will start at 7:30 a.m. in front of Wallace School. There is an entry fee to participate in the 5K. Contact Madisen Clough at 308-737-0834 or Rachel Hanson at 402-660-8938 to sign up.
At 8 a.m. will be a pickleball tournament at the Town Park. Teams of two are invited to participate. A break will be taken during the tournament for the parade. Contact Julie Robertson at 308-289-6858 to sign up.
Also starting at 8 a.m. and continuing till 3 p.m. is the craft show and bake sale at the American Legion Hall. There is a fee for vendors to set up. Contact Jim Smith at 308-530-4855 to sign up.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and those interested in participating must sign up at the bank prior to Saturday. Grand Marshall, Old Scout and Good Neighbor awards will be presented at the parade. Those active in the parade will line up at the airport at 9 a.m.
After the parade, kids races and toad and turtle races will begin on Main St. at the parade stand. Participants must bring their own toad and turtle to race. Contact Mandy Einspahr at 308-530-8740 for more information.
Also after the parade will be the Junior Class Labor Auction at the parade stand on Main Street, Wheel of Fire and the silent auction at the Fire Hall and the quilt show and book sale at the library. From 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. pulled pork and hot dogs will be available for free-will donations at the Community Hall.
The Truck and Antique Tractor Pull put on by Platte Valley Truck and Tractor Pullers will begin at 12 p.m. south of the park. Contact Trevor Lehman at 308- 340-3199 with any questions.
From 12:30-1:30 p.m. there will be kids games in the park. Fun Jumpz will also be available at the park from 12 noon -2  p.m.
Dusty Trails Petting Zoo will be set up west of Mac’s Super Foods between 1-4 p.m. The event is sponsored by Mac’s.
At 1 p.m., rodeo fun events will begin in the roping arena. Call Brian Holm at 308-530-3068 with questions.
At 2:30 there will be a frisbee golf tournament at the park, Contact Eric Miller at 308-390-2894 with questions.
Two events will begin at 4 p.m.—the Bad Axe Throwing on Main Street in the axe throwing trailer, and Corn Hole Tournament on Main Street. Also available during the corn Hole Tournament will be a beer garden, with food available from Fatty McGills.
From 4-8 p.m., music by Kiley and Company will be available with BJ Jamison providing music from 8:30-Midnight. Contact Tracy Tyan at 308-539-4628 with questions.
From 5:30-7 p.m. is the chili cook off at the Community Hall/Wallace Community Church. There is a cost for the event. Contact Krystle Friesen at 387-4204 with questions.
The final event of Saturday’s Fall Festival schedule is the family movie at the baseball fields. The movie will start at 8:30 p.m.
The second day of the Wallace Fall Festival kicks off at 8 a.m. with the Double Elimination Volleyball Tournament at the school gym. Contact Madisen Clough with any inquiries.
From 10:30-11 a.m. there will be a coffee and muffin fellowship held by Wallace Churches and the Wallace Hotel. The fellowship and refreshments will be at the Wallace Hotel Diner.
From 11-noon a community wide church service will be on Main Street at the parade stand. A lunch will be served following the service at the Legion Hall with a free will donation. The lunch will be sponsored by the Wallace Junior Class.
