Young Longhorns place at junior high state track

The Chase County junior high track team brought home five top 10 finishes from the Nebraska Junior High Championship Meet May 13 in Gothenburg.
Four of those came in the girls’ division of the all-class meet.
Avery Beemer led the way with a second place finish in pole vault.
Emily Randall placed sixth in the 400-meter dash and eighth in the 800-meter dash with personal bests in each event.
The girls 3,200-meter relay, Elizabeth Hanna, Aria McNair, Kate Colson and Kiley Shinn-Rowley placed fifth.
For the boys, the 3,200-meter relay, Brextin Moreno, Brandon Chavira, Evan O’Neil and Kaden McArthur, placed fourth.
Several athletes had busy days.
Moreno ran the open 400 and all three boys’ relays.
Besides the pole vault, Beemer ran on two boys’ relays, the 4x100 which was 11th and the 4x400 that placed 12th.
Doubling up on events were Kaden McArthur, Trace Terryberry, O’Neil, Chavira, Shinn-Rowley, Elizabeth Hanna and Aria McNair.
