Jaret Peterson had his hands full keeping his undefeated season alive at the Ogallala Duals. In his first match of the day, Peterson (13-0) used this escape from Cael Peters (15-2) of Mitchell to score the only point in the match, winning 1-0.

Brextin Moreno (9-6) secured this double-leg takedown against Yovanni Jiminez (12-4) of Mitchell in the first of five duals in Ogallala. Moreno went on to win a 6-3 decision. Moreno went 4-1 on the day.

Jaqueb Hoover (4-7) finished the day 3-2. In the second dual against Sidney, Hoover took just 1:09 to pin Malachi Balandran (1-8).

Wrestlers win 4 out of 5 at Ogallala duals Saturday

    The Longhorn Boys Wrestlers won four of five duals at the Ogallala Dual Tournament.
    In the first dual of the day for the Longhorns, the opponent was Mitchell. The Horns won eight of the 12 head-to- head match-ups and each team had one forfeit.
    The final score was Chase County 45, Mitchell 27.
    The Longhorns took the second dual over Sidney, 51-16. Chase County won nine match-ups while Sidney only won 4.
    The third dual was against the hosts from Ogallala. The teams split the head-to-head match-ups with five each. Chase County won three forfeits to open weights while Ogallala only received one.Chase County won 45-30.
    In the fourth dual, Chase County lost 27-48 to the Sutherland Sailors. Sutherland won eight match-ups and got one forfeit while Chase County only had 5 match wins.
    The final dual of the day saw the Longhorns defeating Limon 54-17. Chase County won 10 match-ups, while Limon only won three and took one forfeit win.

Next action
    Chase County will host a varsity quadrangular Friday Jan. 12 starting at 7 p.m. MT. Bayard, Morrill and Wauneta-Palisade will participate.
    Saturday morning, Jan. 13, the Chase County Invitational will start at 9 a.m. MT. The tournament will include JV/Varsity boys and Varsity girls wrestling teams.
    Teams expected for the tourney include: Banner Co., Bayard, Bridgeport, Burlington Co., Crawford, DCS, Garden Co., Hershey, Hitchcock Co., Holyoke Co., Kimball, Leyton, Minitare, Morrill, Ogallala JV, Paxton, Perkins Co., Sedgwick/Fleming Co., South Platte, Southwest, Wauneta-Palisade, Wray Co. JV and Yuma Co.
    The Chase County Youth Wrestling club will hold their home tournament on Sunday Jan. 14.
