WP falls to MV, Sutherland

The Wauneta-Palisade boys’ basketball team continues to look for its next win after losses to Medicine Valley and Sutherland last week.
The Broncos traveled to Curtis Thursday to take on MV.
Michael Duvel and Grayden Sutherland traded baskets in the first quarter for WP and Aden Acton added a bucket in the second quarter.
While points were tough to come by for WP, the Raiders were hitting on all cylinders. MV hit four treys in the first half and lit up the scoreboard with six more in the second half.
Jacksen Littrel and Ashton Wheeler scored points for the Broncos in the second half and Duvel finished the night with a team high seven points in the 21-64 loss.
WP dropped a 36-53 match up with Sutherland the next night at home.
Littrel and Wheeler each hit 3s in the first half and Wheeler made 5-6 from the charity stripe. The Broncos trailed 11-15 after the first quarter, but with only five second quarter points, WP was behind 16-29 at halftime.
Duvel got in on the act from long range in the second half, hitting two three pointers, while Kyle Jutten scored four points in the third quarter.
Despite allowing Sutherland only two fourth quarter field goals, WP sent the Sailors to the free throw line 16 times and Sutherland made nine.
Wheeler scored 11 points for the Broncos and Littrel added nine points.
