WP boys look to improve point standing

    The Wauneta-Palisade boys basketball team ended its RPAC tournament appearance last Tuesday with a 30-51 loss to Maxwell.
    Seniors Jacksen Littrel and Michael Duvel hit first half three pointers for the Broncos. Sophomore Ashton Wheeler made a two point bucket in the first half as well. WP trailed 8-16 at halftime.
    Duvel and Littrel each made a two and three pointer in the third quarter and Aden Acton rattled in a bucket, as well.
    Grayden Sutherland, Wheeler and Littrel scored in the fourth quarter for the Broncos.
    Littrel led WP with 10 points. Wheeler and Duvel each scored eight points.
Up next
    The Broncos are currently fourth in the subdistrict, but no one has separated themselves from the pack to earn hosting duties.
    Brady (5-12), 38.7647, leads the subdistrict followed by Wallace (3-10), 38.6923, Medicine Valley (2-12), 38.5714 and Wauneta-Palisade (2-13), 38.1333.
    WP can make up ground on the Raiders when the Broncos travel to Medicine Valley Thursday. WP will host Sutherland (1-11) Friday.
    Remaining on the regular season schedule are Cheylin, Kansas (10-1), Class D1 No. 1 Maywood/Hayes Center (18-0), South Platte (5-10) and Arthur County (4-10).
    The D2-9 subdistrict will be played Feb. 21 and 23.
