West sweeps Friday’s Cambridge CSO All-Star Games
All star season kicked off Friday evening with Cambridge’s CSO game.
The night started with a low scoring girls’ contest.
The East squad took an early lead, but the West tied the game up with just over four minutes gone in the first 10-minute quarter.
The West never relinquished the lead, winning 47-36.
Wallace’s Mariah Gardner was the only player to finish in double figures and earned the West Team’s MVP honors. Arapahoe’s Hope Koller won East MVP.
Jordan Jablonski of Chase County and Alexa Sandman of Wauneta-Palisade, both playing for the West, scored five points each in the win.
The West team was coached by Wallace’s Shawn Sullivan.
Sullivan said the team only managed one practice—the night before the game—and added a player Thursday.
He said it was an honor to get to coach in the CSO All-Star game.
“I had a lot of fun coaching a great group of girls and you can definitely tell they were leaders on their respective teams,” he added.
The boys’ game featured much more offense with the West Team coming from behind to win 85-78.
Perkins County’s Hunter Garner was the West MVP. Derek Trompke of Cambridge was the East MVP.
