West loses heartbreaker in All-Star Football game

It was just an exhibition game, but from the sound of the pads popping it was easy to tell that both teams wanted the win.
Chase County was represented on the West team with Cooper Dillan, Tyler O’Neil and Jaret Peterson.
The East scored first on a 17 yard pass from Gothenburg’s Trey Stevens to Jess Mauch of North Platte.
The west tied the game when Broc Berry of Chadron hit Jayden Curtis of Ogallala for a 26 yard touchdown.
Just before halftime the East hit a 36 yard field goal to lead 10-7 at the break.
The West took the lead when Cooper Dillan of Chase County took a direct snap and ran it in for a 10 yard touchdown and a 14-10 lead.
The East answered the score on the ensuing kick when McCook’s Brett Fraker picked up the short kick at the 25, started up the middle and then cut to the left sideline. Fraker was able to keep his feet just inside the line as he flew down the sideline for the score.
Trailing 14-17, the West team kicked a field goal to tie the game at 17 but took an offsides penalty against the East to set up a chance for the win from two and a half yards out.
The East defense stopped the attempt to hold on to the win 14-17. This extends the East’s winning streak to four games. Overall the record is 28-17-1 in favor of the East.
