West, East split West Nebraska All Star Games at Scottsbluff Saturday

Neither the West or East All-Star teams gained much of an upper hand on the other Saturday in Scottsbluff.
The West volleyball team won the first three sets of the all-star game at West Nebraska Community College and the East football team took a 31-24 win in the game at Scottsbluff High School.
At the volleyball game, the West team, coached by Chase County’s April Lambert and including former CCS players Jerzee Milner and Chloe Dillan, won the first three sets 25-20, 25-18, 28-26. The East team, including Wauneta-Palisade’s Alexa Sandman, bounced back to take the fourth and fifth sets, 25-19, 15-9.
The football game featured Wallace’s Kolton Hager on the East team, while the West team included Perkins County’s Austin Meyer, Triston Hite and Hayden Foster and Chase County’s Ryan Bernhardt and Morel Jurado.
The East team trailed 5-8 at the end of the first quarter and 11-14 at halftime. East took a 17-14 advantage into the fourth quarter and increased it to 24-17 with 10 minutes left in the game. East tacked on another touchdown to increase its lead to 31-17 with 5:36 left before West scored with 2:47 remaining to close the gap to the final score of 31-24.
Foster and Hager were the football recipients of the Richard Slicker Family Scholarship.
