Three medal at state USA wrestling tourney

    Three members of the Chase County Wrestling Club medaled at last weekend’s Nebraska USA State Wrestling Tournament in Grand Island.
    The Chase County club took 10 to the tourney after they qualified earlier at the district meet. Youths in the pre-K divisions did not have to qualify.
    Earning medals were:
    3rd Isaiah Pursley, grade 1-2, 65 lbs.
    5th Trennin May, pre-K, 40-41 lbs.
    6th Ben Lechtenberg, grade 1-2, 62 lbs.
    Also competing for the Chase County team were  Booker Vlasin, Asher Weiss, Bo Owens, Jeffrey Martin Jr., Tatum May, Jaqueb Hoover and Paige Owens.
    Chase County finished with 52 team points, placing them 105th out of 254 teams.
    The tourney over the weekend drew the largest numbers in history with 2,539 youths wrestling. On Saturday and Sunday, 18 mats were set up with four sessions each day.
