Grayden Sutherland runs threw a couple would be tacklers in Friday night’s game. Sutherland had 75 yards rushing and scored both of Wauneta-Palisade’s touchdowns.

South Platte gives Broncos first loss 12-24

    After a scoreless first quarter, the Broncos struck first with a two yard run by Grayden Sutherland. The two point conversion failed but the Broncos led 6-0.
    South Platte struck back with an 11 yard pass for a touchdown. The Blue Knights were successful on the two point conversion and took the lead 8-6.
    Wauneta bounced back with a scoring drive of their own that was capped off with another two yard plunge by Sutherland. The kick by Gabe McCrumb failed giving the Broncos a 12-8 lead.
    Just before halftime Quinten Koenen completed his second touchdown pass of the night. With the two point conversion the Blue Knights took a halftime lead of 16-12.
    Koenen passed for a 13 yard touchdown in the third quarter with the two point conversion being good and giving South Platte a 24-12 lead.
    The Blue Knights would threaten one more time but Aden Acton intercepted a pass in the end zone to keep the Knights from scoring.
    The Broncos out rushed the Blue Knights 110 yards to 65 but the Blue Knights out passed the Broncos 151 to 33.
    Wauneta-Palisade had two turnovers on the night, a fumble and an interception.
    The Blue Knights lost three fumbles and one interception.
Sioux County next
    The Broncos will travel to Harrison for a 2 p.m. MT game on Friday Sept. 8. Sioux County comes into the game 2-0 after wins over Creek
Valley (54-6) and Banner County (78-12).
