Seniors hit floor one last time

    Area teammates are getting one last chance to play together as summer all-star games continue.
    Saturday, Chase County’s Liz Reeves and Bryn McNair, along with Wauneta-Palisade’s Halle Bardsley and Cali Cox, represented their schools on the West team at the Wild West All-Star Classic at McCook Community College.
    After the East won the first set 26-24, the West team claimed the second set 25-21. The final two sets went the East’s way, 25-14, 25-19.
    Bardsley had a team-high 16 assists. Cox had two kills. Reeves had six assists and four digs. McNair had six digs.
    MCC Head Coach Hayley Kobza announced that this year’s game will be the final Wild West Classic.
    Earlier this month, McNair played for the West team in the West Nebraska All-Star Game in Scottsbluff on June 10.
    The East team won the match in five sets 23-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-27, 15-12.
    New West Classic games were held June 14-15.
    Last Thursday, the RPAC played the FKC in girls and boys basketball, while the Southwest Conference took on the LouPlatte Conference in the other games.
    Cox was on the floor for the RPAC in a 71-40 win.
    The RPAC boys lost to the FKC 52-70.
    In volleyball on June 14, the RPAC beat the Fort Kearny Conference in four sets, then topped the LouPlatte Conference 25-17, 25-18 in the championship match. In the consolation match, the Southwest Conference beat the FKC in three sets.
    The only remaining all-star games are the Nebraska Coaches Association basketball, volleyball and softball games coming up in July.

    McNair is on the roster for the 43rd annual girls’ basketball game July 24. The game is scheduled to begin at Lincoln North Star at 6 p.m. CT.
    McNair will play on the Blue Team with Emma Brown, Malcolm; Sydney Davis, Centura; Kaitlyn Emanuel, North Bend Central; Rachel Goodon, Adams Central; Sammy Leu, Wahoo; Aspen Meyer, Lourdes Central Catholic; Morgan Moeller, Pierce; Makenna Noecker, Hartington Cedar Catholic; Kynlee Strauser, Gothenburg; Grace Thompson, Elkhorn North; and MaKenna Willis, Shelton. Coaches will be Noah Maulsby, Ravenna, and Clayton Carlton, Yutan.
    On the Red Team will be Sage Burbach, Norris; Brinly Christensen, Lincoln Southwest; Samantha Ehlers, Ponca; Olivia Hansen, Maywood/Hayes Center; Tonja Heirigs, NP St. Pat’s; Libby Hoffman, Millard West; Brooklyn Kruse ,Wayne; Adison Markowski, Lincoln, Pius X; Maddy Province, Kearney; Reese Riddle, Sidney; Tatum Rusher, Kearney; and Jessica Wertenberger, Falls City Sacred Heart. Coaches will be Luke Santo, FCSH, and Ryan Psota, Lincoln Pius X.
