Preparations continue for July’s Legion state baseball tourney; volunteers are still needed

Many of the pieces are in place for Imperial to host the Class C State Baseball Tournament in July.
Additional bleachers have been moved in to Campbell Park, the warning track is in place and several painting projects have been completed.
But a few projects still remain. The new scoreboard should be delivered this week. The concession stand will be painted.
Help is still needed.
The Imperial Baseball and Softball Association is looking for golf cart drivers, ticket takers, parking and concession stand workers.
Volunteers Lesley Nordhausen and Jill Moline are filling time slots but are looking for more people willing to help.
Individuals or groups interested in helping out can call Nordhausen, 402-525-2695, or Moline, 308-883-5389, to sign up for times during the tournament July 15-19.
Volunteers are especially needed Saturday and Sunday with four games scheduled for each day.
High school students in need of community service hours are welcome to volunteer.
Team sponsorships are also still being accepted.
Arrangements are being made for people to sing the national anthem before every game. Team ambassadors and a variety of other people are needed to make the tournament run without a hitch.
Various food trucks will be at the field during the games, including Grub’N 308, Latte’ Da and Freeze the Day.
Coaches will be in town Friday, July 14, for a coaches meeting. Games begin the following morning at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday games will be played at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Imperial, which holds the automatic berth that comes with hosting the tournament, will play its first game of the tourney at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Games will be at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, then 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The championship game will be played at 5 p.m. Wednesday. If a second game is needed in the double elimination tournament, first pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m.
