NSAA releases spring classifications, football schedules for 2022-2023

    The Nebraska Schools Activities Association announced last week schedules for high school football for the next two years.
    This fall Chase County will host Alliance in week one, travel to Sidney in week two, then have back-to-back home games against Amherst and Gibbon in weeks three and four. The Longhorns will travel to Gordon-Rushville in week five, before a home game against Hershey in week six. Trips to Mitchell and Wood River fill week’s seven and eight. The final regular season game will be in week nine at home against Valentine.
    The 2023 schedule has the same opponents but the locations are swapped. Away games will be at Alliance, Amherst, Gibbon, Hershey and Valentine. Home games will be Sidney, Gordon-Rushville, Mitchell and Wood River.
    Wauneta-Palisade will continue to play six-man football for two more years.
    WP’s 2022 schedule opens against Banner County in week one. The Broncos will travel to South Platte in week two, then host Sioux County in week three. After a bye in week four, WP will will face back-to-back RPAC opponents, traveling to Southwest in week five and hosting Wallace in week six. Weeks seven and eight will feature road trips to Arthur County and Paxton, before a regular season finale against Brady in week nine.
    Just like CCS, the opponents stay the same in 2023, but the locations flip. Home games will be against South Platte, Southwest, Arthur County and Paxton. Away games will be at Banner County, Sioux County, Wallace and Brady.
    Spring activity classifications were announced in January.
    Chase County is the sixth biggest Class C school behind Malcolm (154 enrollment), Winnebago (148), Valentine (147), North Bend Central (146) and Conestoga (140). Chase County’s enrollment is 138.
    WP’s track team is ranked 54th in Class D with an enrollment of 50.
    For boys’ golf this spring, CCS is 35th out of 74 in Class C.
