Moreno homers twice for Imperial 1 against Grant

    Imperial 1 and 2 each split their games last week.
    Imperial 1 lost its first game of the season Wednesday at Grant.
    After Imperial 1 didn’t score to start the game, Grant scored one run in the first inning.
    Imperial 1 was also scoreless in the second inning and soon fell behind 0-3
    Tate Teply hit a single in the third inning and was brought home by a Brextin Moreno home run to center field. Imperial 1 left a runner stranded on third at the end of their at bat.
    A bases loaded double left Imperial 1 in a 2-7 hole at the end of the third inning.
    Singles by Evan O’Neil and Braxton Chubb gave Imperial 1 one run in the fourth inning. Grant also scored one run during the fourth inning.
    Noah Rau led off the fifth inning with a single and scored for Imperial 1. James Bomba and Parker Terryberry also singled and scored.
    Grant scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning leaving Imperial trailing 6-10 going into the sixth inning.
    Lukas Fries led off with a single and scored on Moreno’s second home run of the game.Imperial 1 had runners on second and third but couldn’t bring them home to score in the 8-10 loss.
    Imperial 1 out hit Grant 15-10. Conner Stromberger and Rau walked nine and struck out eight.
    Imperial 1 rebounded with a no hitter Friday night at Wallace.
    Fries, Rau and Lleyton McDaniel walked and scored in the first inning. A double by Chubb drove McDaniel home.
    Two Wallace runners walked and scored in the bottom of the first inning.
    Both teams had no runs in the second inning. At the end of the second inning, Imperial 1 was leading with a score of 3-2.
    Destry Oxford walked and stole two bases before scoring on a wild pitch in the third inning. Chubb singled and also came around to score.
    After holding Wallace scoreless, Imperial 1 added two more runs in the fourth inning.     Taylor Maddux walked and scored on a Fries single. Fries scored as well on a single by Rau.
    One run by Chubb in the fifth inning was the final run in the 8-2 win.
    During the game, Imperial 1’s pitchers Chubb and O’Neil didn’t allow a hit, walked nine and struck out six batters.
Imperial 2 splits games
    Imperial 2 played their first game of the week at home versus Wallace,
    Wallace’s first batter reached base with a walk and scored, but Wallace left the bases full.
    At the bottom of the first inning, Imperial 2 made its move early, batting around and scoring eight runs.
    Wallace scored two runs in the second inning.
    Imperial 2 kept up their momentum in the second inning.
Imperial 2’s first eight batters scored.
    Early on in the third inning, Wallace added two runs.
    Imperial 2 was scoreless in the third inning, leaving runners at first and third base.
    Wallace had three runs in the top of the fourth inning. Its leadoff batter scored the only run in the fifth inning.
    The game ended early and Imperial 2 took a 16-9 win.
    Imperial 2 had their second game of the week Friday against Sutherland.
    Sutherland started to build their momentum in the first inning of the game, scoring five runners.
    Dylan Miscles scored the first run for Imperial 2 in the first inning, but they left one runner on second base.
    In the top of the second inning, Sutherland built a bigger lead with 14 more runs.
    Rodrigo Robles and Zariah Carman scored in the second inning, but Imperial 2 left the bases loaded.  
    Sutherland scored three more runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning.
    Adan Mireles scored for Imperial 2 in the fourth inning of the 7-24 loss.
    Imperial 3 played Ogallala 2 and Paxton last week.
Up Next
    Imperial 3 will head to Hershey Wednesday, while Imperial 2 will play Ogallala 1.
    Friday Imperial 2 will host Hershey. Imperial 1 and 3 will both go to Ogallala.
