Longhorns win pre-SPVA game over Perkins County

    The Chase County Longhorn Basketball team was hitting on all cylinders Thursday, Jan. 11, coming away from Grant with a 30 point win in the final game leading into the SPVA Conference tourney that started Tuesday Jan. 16.
    The defense kept Perkins County out of rhythm and held them to just seven points in the first half while amassing 21.
    The Longhorns kept the hot hand in the second half, scoring 18 points in the third and fourth quarter, while holding Perkins County to just seven and 13 respectively. In the end the Longhorns came away with a 57-27 win.
    Chase County scored over half their points from in the paint, with 30. Easton Fries lead all scoring with 17 followed closely by Cameron Lempke with 15.
    Perkins County’s top scorer was Rylee Schrotberger with 5.
    The win was to late to affect the bracket in the SPVA Tournament, leaving Perkins County as the three seed and Chase County as the six.
    This means Chase County will travel to Grant for a rematch on Tuesday Jan. 16.
