Longhorns update records

The Chase County track teams updated the school record boards at their end of year supper last week.
New records were set by Thomas Reeves in the 100-meter dash, Easton Fries in both hurdle races and the 400, the boys’ 400-meter relay team of Jonathan Sosa, Tucker Mollendor, Thomas Reeves and Dawson Mollendor, as well as girls’ records by Bryn McNair in the 800 and the 1,600-meter relay team of Peyton Owens, Olivia Spady, Riley Rusher and McNair.
Boys’ Head Coach Carl Zuege pointed out that about 10 years or so ago it became common and recommended practice to convert all handheld records to electronic by adding 0.24 seconds to each time in any event from the 400 down.
“Some schools chose to adjust the handheld times like we did, others chose to make two different record boards, one that included handheld times as they exist, and another with all times adjusted to electronic. We have chosen to just keep one record board with the adjusted times, but we still have all of the old handheld times on record in our files. Therefore, Dirk Young’s time of 10.9 in the 100 is adjusted to 11.14,” Zuege said.
McNair also updated records on the basketball board to reflect her records for career points, rebounds and blocked shots and season records for points, field goals made, free throws made, blocked shots and scoring average.
McNair also holds school records in volleyball, season kills and career good passes, total spikes, good spikes and kills, plus the school 400 and high jump records.
