Longhorns boys overwhelm competition at Don Stine Invite in Cambridge

As it often does, the Chase County boys track team overwhelmed its competition at the Don Stine Invite at Cambridge. The Longhorns claimed the team title 231-57 over SPVA foe Hershey.
With over 50 boys on the team, CCS was able to get the majority of them competing in Cambridge. Several events had eight Longhorns entered. CCS notched 31 personal bests on the day.
Fielding both varsity and JV teams, Chase County placed at least three in the top eight of 11 events.
Thomas Reeves was a double winner, claiming the 100- and 200-meter crowns.
Easton Fries won both hurdle races, breaking the meet record he set last year in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.49. Jensen Olsen and Tyler O’Neil placed second and third, respectively, in the 110-meter high hurdles. O’Neil placed second in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Longhorns claimed the top three places in pole vault. Mason Wallin won the event with Malachi Christensen and Spencer Kelley using personal bests to take second and third, respectively.
CCS also raked in points in long jump with 1-2-3 finishes. Tucker Mollendor took first, followed by Kole Clevenger and James McArthur.
The same was true in triple jump where Clevenger placed first, McArthur second and Tyler O’Neil third.
In the shot put, three CCS throwers finished right behind Class D leader Brock Bailey of Dundy County Stratton. Noah Rau was second, Jesus Medina was third and Ray Murillo placed fourth.
Cooper Dillan won the discus for CCS and Rau added a third place finish.
