Longhorn wrestlers win two, lose one at Hitchcock Co. Quadrangular

    Thursday Jan. 18 the Chase County boys wrestling team took on Hitchcock County, Cambridge and Sutherland at  Trenton.
    Jaret Peterson reached a huge milestone in his wrestling career when he pinned Trev Burke of Cambridge for his 150th win. The faculty at CCS had the match streaming live on most of the screens at the school so the students could watch and cheer Jaret on.
    Chase County faced off with Hitchcock Co. in the first dual and came out with a 66-6 win. Only six weights had wrestlers from both schools, thus there where just six matches and Chase Co. won five of them.
    The second dual for Chase Co. was against Cambridge. It was a close match, with Cambridge winning five of the nine head-to-head match-ups. Cambridge had three open weights that the Longhorns had filled giving the Longhorns an extra 18 points and the dual win, 37-30.
    In the final dual of the night, the Longhorns faced the Sutherland Sailors. Both teams had five match wins and each team won two matches by forfeit. The difference in the dual was Sutherland had three wins by pin, one by major decision and one by decision.
    The Longhorns had one win by major decision and the other four by decision. With decision wins only netting three points while pins net six, the Sailors of Sutherland came out on top 28-37.
