Longhorn wrestlers take second place at Southern Valley

    Chase County brought home six medals from the Southern Valley Invite and just missed taking the team title by two and a half points. The Longhorns took 20 wrestlers who competed.
    Three of those medals were first place finishes, while two were third and one fourth.
    Luis Co finished the day in first place in the 150 pound class. Co, who holds a record of 8-1, faced Kason Bruns of Sutherland, (4-0) in the finals. Bruns suffered his first loss to Co by way of major decision, 16-6.
    Jaret Peterson kept his record perfect and finished in first place at 215 pounds with a major decision win over Jeremy Felix of Alma in the finals.
    Zach Tarin also finished in first place when he defeated Zeb Wilde of Sandhills/Thedford by major decision 13-2.
    Fabian Arelin finished third. Arelin lost to Grant Statz of Sedgewick County/Fleming in the semi-finals but fought back through the consolation bracket to beat AJ Hobbs of Summerland by pin in the third place match.
    Thomas Reeves wrestled at 190. Reeves fell in the semifinals to Jake Hodson of Red Cloud/Blue Hill before pinning his way back through the consolation bracket to take third place.
    Tyler O’Neil made it to the semifinal match at 175 before falling to Aydan Kaps of Sutherland. O’Neil won the consolation semifinal but lost to Rhett McFadden of Sandhills Thedford in the third place match by decision 3-8 for fourth place.
