Longhorn girls drop basketball game to Southern Valley

Tuesday, Jan. 30, CCS traveled to Oxford to face the 18-1 Southern Valley girls basketball team. The only loss for the Eagles came back in December when Gothenberg beat them 56-42.
The Longhorns found themselves quickly in the lead, scoring the first points of the game before the Eagles turned it around and never stopped.
CCS had 31 turnovers in the game, 20 of which were steals by the high pressure defense of the Eagles. Southern Valley converted 27 points off the turnovers while the Longhorns only converted seven points off Southern Valley’s 17 turnovers.
CCS trailed at the half 7-25. The Longhorns came out after the break and won the third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 13-8.
That was as close as the game would get as the Eagles put up 15 in the fourth and the Horns only scored eight, losing the contest 26-48.
Landree McNair led the Longhorn scoring with 13. Southern Valley had two girls in double figures, Ann Bose and Adi Hunt, each with 16.
