In the heartbreak round in Imperial last Saturday, Kyson Vogt scored a 9-5 win over Grady Vogl of Ogallala. Vogt went on to claim sixth place at 215 pounds.

Longhorn boys fifth, girls sixth at Chadron Wrestling Invite

    It was a good day at a very tough Chadron Tourney on Saturday, Jan. 20. In the girls brackets, Chase County had who all three girls participated bring home medals.
    The boys had seven out of the twelve wrestlers place in the top six.
    Chadron hosted 24 boys teams and 20 girls teams. The CCS boys finished in fifth, while the girls placed in sixth with only three wrestlers.
    Hayley Rusher improved her record to 23-4, winning the 140 pound weight class.
    Brooke Schilke improved her record to 18-7 by taking first place in the girls 155 pound division.
    Naveah Martin (4-10) brought home a fourth place finish at 105 pounds.
    The boys had two first place finishers with Jaret Peterson winning at 215 and improving his record to 35-0. Zach Tarin won in the heavyweight division and improved to 32-2.
    Tarin avenged his second loss of the year when he won in sudden victory over Josef Sanchez of Natrona, after having lost in sudden victory to him the day before.
    CCS had two third place finishers in Luis Co (33-4) at 150 pounds and Thomas Reeves (32-6) at 175.
    Westyn Mendenhall (21-9) finished in fourth at 157 pounds. In the 165 pound class, Tyler O’Neil (26-12) finished in fifth, while Scott Hoover (18-13) finished sixth at 144 pounds.
