Last games before tournament starts for PeeWee

    Imperial’s PeeWee teams wrapped up their regular seasons last week and will play their tournament in Ogallala this week.
    Imperial 1 is the single elimination tournament’s top seed. Imperial 2 will battle Wallace Wednesday at 5 p.m. for the right to face Imperial 1 Thursday at 4 p.m. Imperial 3 will take on Sutherland Wednesday also at 5 p.m. With a win its quarterfinal game would also be Thursday at 4 p.m.
    Both semifinals will be played Friday at 5 p.m. The consolation and championship games will be Saturday.
Imperial 2 vs Ogallala 1
    Imperial 2 played a makeup away game at Ogallala last Wednesday.
    Rodrigo Robles, Max Bernard and Aaron Cervantes loaded the bases for Imperial 2 in the first inning, but weren’t able to score.
    Ogallala 1 took control of the game with 15 runs in the bottom of the first inning.
    After Imperial 2 didn’t score in the second inning, Ogallala 1 increased their lead with 12 runs.
    Dylan Miscles and Robles led off the third inning and scored for Imperial 2, but the game ended by run rule after the top of the third inning.
Imperial 2 vs Hershey
    Hershey and Imperial 2 played in Imperial Friday.
    Hershey built their momentum early in the first inning with its first seven runners all scoring.
    Miscles led off for Imperial 2 and scored. Bernard scored, but Imperial 2 left the bases loaded to end the inning.
    Imperial 2 went down in order in the second and third innings while Hershey increased its lead.
    Imperial 2’s stranded Miscles and Jaxsen Villarreal in the bottom of the fourth inning of the loss.
Imperial 1 vs Ogallala 2
    Imperial 1 started the game off strong, scoring eight runs with singles from Brextin Moreno and Lleyton McDaniel and doubles by Moreno and James Bomba.
    Ogallala 2 did not get any runs in the first inning. Imperial 1’s Evan O’Neil threw two strike-outs in the first inning.
    Noah Rau and Tate Teply scored runs for Imperial 1 in the bottom of the second inning followed by O’Neil striking out three batters in the bottom of the inning.     In inning three, Imperial 1 gained a bigger lead. Imperial 1 batted around in the inning, including singles by McDaniel, Rau, O’Neil and Conner Stromberger, followed by a three-run home run by McDaniel.
    Defensively, Imperial 1 sat down the side in the bottom of the inning.
    Imperial 1’s bats stayed hot in the fourth inning. Parker Terryberry and Teply started off with singles. Moreno, O’Neil and Stromberger hit triples and, after a single by McDaniel, Braxton Chubb homered.
    Ogallala 2 scored its only two runs of the game of the game in the bottom of the fourth before Teply struck out its final batter.
    Throughout the 26-2 win, Imperial 1 had 20 hits, while Ogallala 2 had three. Imperial 1 had 31 at bats and Ogallala 2 had 13 at bats.
