Lady wrestlers take ninth at McCook with only five wrestlers

Despite only having five wrestlers filling weights in McCook Thursday, the Lady Longhorns placed in the middle of the pack and brought home two first place finishes.
Lizbit Mereles wrestled in the 120c bracket. Mereles pinned both opponents, one from Grant and the other from Ogallala to take first place.
Haley Rusher was the other champion in McCook after she defeated her two opponents from Goodland and McCook.
Neveah Martin’s division in the 105b bracket only had two competitors so she wrestled the same girl twice. Unfortunately Martin came up against a very strong Ariel Ehlers of Colby and lost both matches.
Iris Robles wrestled in the 125b division, losing both her matches by pinfall.
Brooke Schilke rounded out the team wrestling in the 155 bracket. Schilke won one and lost two at the tournament.
