Lady Longhorns still searching for first win

The Chase County volleyball team traveled to the Lexington Tournament on Saturday Sept. 2. Due to one of the teams backing out, the tournament turned into a round robin format.
The Lady Longhorns would play four matches, each consisting of the best of three games.
In the match against Holdrege (3-3) Chase County stuck with them in the early going but stalled with Holdrege going on two streaks of five point runs.
The Longhorns dropped the first set 14-25.
The second set was a fight to the end. After starting with a four point run of their own, the Longhorns swapped the lead several times. Chase County led 23-22 before Holdrege shut the door scoring three straight to win the match.
In the match against Hershey (2-5) where both teams were looking for their first win, it went all three sets.
After winning the first set 25-18 it looked like it would be  the Lady Longhorns day. In the second set the Longhorns built a lead of 21-17 before the Panthers came back with six straight points to go up 21-23. The Longhorns scored one to get to 22 but Hershey closed it out to take the set 22-25.
The third set was pretty even early but Hershey pulled away late with a six point run to end the match 18-25.
It was hard to get momentum going in the match against Hastings (4-4). Chase County struggled to get any runs going while Hastings was not letting off the gas.
The Horns lost the match in two sets, 17-25 and 15-25. It didn’t get any easier when the Horns faced off with undefeated St. Paul (6-0).
The Longhorns struggled to get anything going in the first set losing 14-25. The second set was much more competitive with the Longhorns fighting back after being down 24-14 with six straight points. St. Paul was able to take the final set 25-20.
