Lady Longhorns go 1-2 at McCook Tourney Saturday

    The young Longhorn volleyball team keeps showing signs of improvement as the year progresses.
    Despite losing two matches the Lady Horns gathered their second win of the year.
    The Longhorns played Cambridge (10-3), Southwest (11-1) and Oberlin-Decatur Community, Kansas.
    It took three sets for the Trojans of Cambridge to beat the Lady Longhorns. The first and third sets where dominated by the Trojans but the Longhorns toughed out a 26-24 win in the second set.
    Cambridge won the first set 9-25 and had the same score in the third set to take the match.
    The Lady Horns stayed with Southwest in the first set but weren’t able to close out the set losing 22-25. It was close the first part of the second set but the Roughriders pulled away to win it 17-25.
    The Lady Longhorns came out hot against Oberlin-DC. Chase County won the match with two straight set wins of 25-16 and 25-13. That brings the Lady Longhorns record to 2-10.
    Chase County hosted the Sidney Red Raiders Tuesday but the scores where not available at press time.
Next action:
    On Saturday Sept. 23 the Horns will travel to the Sutherland Tournament which begins at 9 a.m. MT. On Tuesday Sept. 26 the Longhorns will host Gothenburg starting at 4 p.m. MT. There will only be one varsity home game left after Gothenburg.
