Hospital’s Slice Fore Life tops previous years in fundraising

Saturday’s annual summer fundraiser, the Slice Fore Life Golf Tournament, topped last year in gross receipts for the Chase County Hospital Foundation.
Shawn Jaeger, Foundation and Marketing Coordinator for the hospital, said they finished with almost $36,000 in gross receipts, the most ever raised at the golf tournament.
“Clearly, our sponsors have been amazingly supportive,” he said.
Jaeger said when the net proceeds are figured, they will be applied to the foundation’s Endowment Fund.
The goal of signing up 18 teams for the 18-hole tournament materialized, bringing out 72 golfers for the four-person Best Ball Scramble at Enders Lake Golf Course.
“Everyone showed up to play. It was a bit windy but otherwise a great day for golf,” he said.
Pivot Electric won the team title, shooting a 31 on the first nine and 32 on the back, for a 63 total. Team members were Eric and Marilyn McDaniel, Tom Luhrs and Aaron Cyboron.
They finished just one stroke ahead of second place Wauneta Crossroads, who scored 64. Team members were Jesse West, Myles, West, Matt Howard and Chad Flaig.
A three-way tie for third resulted between Adams Bank & Trust, Enders Lake Golf Course and JK Inc., all shooting a 65.
There were no hole-in-one prize winners among the three possibilities sponsored by Imperial Wolf Auto, Imperial Country Ford and McNair Agency.
As part of the fundraising, the foundation also raffled off a Pit Boss Sportsman 820 wood pellet grill won by Jon Nordhausen of Imperial.
