Horns volleyball team still searching for winning combo

    The Lady Longhorns traveled to Julesburg, Colorado Tuesday Sept. 12 to take on the Sedgwick County Cougars. The Cougars are off to a very good start having only one loss to go with their eight wins and riding a six game winning streak.
    The Lady Longhorns weren’t intimidated and came out strong in the first set. The Longhorns built an 8-2 lead before the Cougars started to come back.
    After several back and forth lead changes the Cougars prevailed winning the set 25-23. Sedgwick County rode that momentum all the way threw the second set winning it 25-10.
    The Lady Horns weren’t done yet and fought back in the third set but eventually the Cougars were to much and won the set 25-20 and took the match.
    The Lady Longhorns had some of the younger players play very well which looks very good for the future of the volleyball program.
Next action:
    The Longhorns will play in the McCook tournament on Sept. 16 along with Alliance, Cambridge, Decatur Comm., Gering, Southwest and Valentine. The Longhorns hosted Sidney Sept. 19.
    On Sept. 23 the team will travel to the Sutherland Tournament with a 9 a.m. mt. start.
