Horns’ Juniors win four games, now 9-3

The Imperial Pinnacle Bank Junior Legion team rattled off four straight wins over the course of five days, before taking a loss Monday.
Imperial jumped all over Ogallala early and never looked back in taking an 11-1 win last Wednesday.
Thomas Reeves led off for Imperial and reached base on an error. He came around to score with a stolen base, wild pitch and passed ball. The Horns rallied with two outs to score two more runs. Ogallala had two more errors that, combined with hits by Cooper Dillan and Camron Lempke, allowed two more runs to score.
The Horns held a 3-0 lead heading into the third inning and turned three straight singles into another run.
Ogallala scored its only run of the game on a fourth inning home run.
Imperial responded with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth. Kaden Vogt, Jaret Peterson and Gavin Wisnieski singled and Mason Wallin doubled in the inning.
Ogallala committed seven errors to one by Imperial.
Reeves pitched a complete game two hitter. Reeves walked one and struck out eight.
The Horns took two one-run wins over McCook Friday.
The teams played the final half inning to end their game from June 7. The Horns led 7-6 and sat McCook down in order to seal the win.
Dillan pitched four innings, walking six, striking out eight and allowing six hits. Jablonski pitched two innings, walking three and striking out three. Jaret Peterson closed out the game with one inning of work and struck out two batters.
Reeves singled and scored in the first inning.
McCook tied the game in the top of the second inning with the help of two Imperial errors.
The Horns regained the lead with a two-run third inning. Jet Peterson led off the inning with a walk. Singles by Wallin, Jaret Peterson and Cooper Dillan scored Jet Peterson and Wallin.
Four more runs in the fourth inning gave Imperial a comfortable 7-1 lead. Tristan Jablonski and Wallin doubled to lead the charge.
Over the fifth and sixth innings the teams each scored two runs. Two McCook errors moved Imperial runners around the bases in the sixth inning.
McCook made the evening interesting with a five-run seventh inning. With the top of the order up to bat, McCook’s first five batters scored, including two on a two-RBI double. McCook sandwiched two strikeouts around a walk and had runners on second and third when the game ended on a ground out to third base.
Jaret Peterson started the game pitching and gave way to Jet Peterson and Jablonski. Together they allowed six hits, walked 10 and struck out eight.
The Horns lay the wood to Cozad on Sunday’s hot, windy afternoon.
After giving up two runs to Cozad to start the game, Imperial’s first two batters, Lempke and Wisnieski, were hit by pitches. A single by Wallin, double by Dillan and single from Jablonski, brought home five runs for the Horns.
Jaret Peterson singled and scored in the second inning and Wisnieski and Jaret Peterson singled and scored in the third inning. Between those three runs, Cozad homered to stay within striking distance.
Leading 8-3, the Horns put Cozad to bed with a seven-run fourth inning highlighted by back-to-back homers by Wallin and Dillan.
Tyler O’Neil and Lempke pitched Imperial to the 15-3 win. They allowed four hits, five walks and struck out six.
Broken Bow snapped the win streak Monday.
Jaret Peterson’s two run homer gave Imperial an early lead in the game, but Broken Bow responded with five hits for four runs.
Four walks in the top of the second inning helped Imperial tie the game at 4-4. Broken Bow’s bats stayed hot over the second and third innings, but Imperial could only manage three base runners over the final three innings and took a 4-12 loss.

The regular season is winding down quickly. The Horns host Curtis/Maywood Wednesday for a junior-senior doubleheader.
The JV squad will take on Mitchell in Ogallala Saturday evening following a home junior-senior doubleheader Saturday against Gothenburg that afternoon.
The Horns will head to Cozad Sunday for a juniors-only matchup and Tuesday will be a junior-senior doubleheader in Imperial against Hershland.
