Navaeh Martin comes around the corner to get a reversal which led to a win by pinfall in 3:20 over M. Avine of Yuma in the match for third place last week at the CCS Invite.

Hemingford hosts girls wrestling tournament

    The Chase County Girls Wrestling Team took three girls to Hemingford Friday, Jan. 19.
    Even though the Longhorns only had three wrestlers competing, they came home with a 10th place finish out of 19 teams.
    Brooke Schilke was the top finisher, coming in second place in the 155 pound division. Schilke started with a bye, before winning a decision over Memphis Erdman of Mitchell, 8-3.
    In the finals, Schilke was pinned by Addie Diers (19-1) of Chadron in 2:15 for second place.
    Hayley Rusher suffered an injury after winning her first match by pin in just 0:40 seconds over Nyeli Bauer of Mitchell.
    Rusher had to take a medical forfeit in the second and third round, leaving her with a third place finish.
    Navaeh Martin rounded out the team, wrestling at 105 pounds.
    Martin started with a bye in the first round. Martin fell to Hailey Webber of Ogallala by pin in 5:59.
    In the consolation semi-finals, Martin lost a 0-7 decision to Olivia Aguilar of Gering, to knock her out of the tournament.
