Hauxwell fourth at state junior high XC

Chase County seventh grader Addison Hauxwell placed fourth in the Open division at the Nebraska Junior High State Cross Country Meet  Saturday on the Walnut Creek course at Papillion-LaVista South.
Hauxwell, who had a personal best for her first place finish at the SPVA meet last week, finished a step out of third place.
First place in the Open division went to Madison Scott of Elkhorn Ridge with a time of 11:38.51. Arlington eighth grader Grace Scheer was second, 12:11.42. Next came Louisville eighth grader Emma Oliver, 12:28.19, followed closely by Hauxwell, 12:28.26.
The girls Championship division was won by eighth grader Scout Bell of Gothenburg, 11:05.00.
Hauxwell’s time would have placed her 33rd out of 261 runners in the Championship division. In the Open race, 245 runners took part.
Perkins County’s Jesus Marquez, an eighth grader, won the boys SPVA race and was 21st in the junior high state meet Open division. An entry error caused Marquez to be disqualified.
Through the season and state meet, races were 3,000 meters.
