Girls track team dominates at Sutherland track meet

It was a good day in Sutherland last Friday, April 12 for the CCS girls track team. The Longhorns swept all three relay races and had wins from Ella Colson, who edged out Kendyl Flaming in a photo finish in the 100 meter dash and Avery Beemer took first in the pole vault, going 9’.
The girls scored in every event including three events with three athletes scoring, seven events with two and one in the rest.
Coach Hauxwell continues to try to fill positions of athletes that are gone for other school events, injuries and illness. It is a blessing to have so many young athletes that are willing and able to step in and contribute to the team.
In the 100, Colson took the win and Haley Rusher finished in seventh. Haley Rusher took second in the 200 with Adelle Eskew finishing fourth.    Lizbet Mireles took fourth in the 400 followed by Avery Beemer in seventh.
In the 800, Miranda Spady was second and Aria McNair finished sixth. Landree McNair took third in the 1600 with Kate Colson in seventh and in the 3200 meter run, Elizabeth Hanna finished in fourth.
Both hurdle races yielded three scoring athletes with Tristan Nordhausen taking third, Peyton Owens fifth and Karlie Anderson sixth in the 100. In the 300, Owens took second, Norhausen fourth and Anderson fifth.
In the field events, Kylee Wiest finished eighth in the shot and sixth in the discus.
Anderson tied for second in the high jump and L. McNair took fourth.
Beemer won the pole vault and Aria McNair took eighth, Eskew finished third in the long jump and Katelyn Stamm, Peyton Owens and Marley Randall finished second, third and fourth respectively in the triple jump.
