Eleven Chase County youths headed to state
Eleven Chase County Wrestling Club members will compete in the Nebraska USA Wrestling Folkstyle Tournament this weekend.
To qualify for state, youths had to wrestle at districts and place in the top four in their bracket.
There are eight districts, and Chase County competes in District 2, whose tournament was held on March 4 at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Kearney.
PreK-K wrestlers are placed into four-man brackets so they automatically qualify for state by wrestling at districts. Qualification in the rest of the age brackets varies depending on the number registered.
The state tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island.
