Water is still standing along the fairway of the sixth hole at Enders Lake Golf Course, but the course is open for golfers.

ELCG, ICC ready for golf season to tee off

    Golfers rejoice!
After a wet winter, the snow and ice have cleared enough for Enders Lake Golf Course and Imperial Country Club to be open for business.
The seventh hole is still closed at ICC due to a snow drift around the green, ICC grounds managerAaron Cyboron said, and the course still has roughly 5% snow and ice coverage.
Despite that, the rest of the course is open.
Enders Lake Golf Course has standing water along the fairway of hole No. 6, but the driving range and all holes on the course are playable as long as temperatures are above 45 degrees, Kari Amen said.
Amen and Cyboron were both thankful for the moisture.
“The snow provided good protection from harsh winter conditions making the turf conditions better than previous drought years,” Amen said.
    Cyboron agreed.
“Last year’s winter was very dry and mild so ICC had quite a bit of winter golf played taking its toll on sections of the golf course. This winter we had snow coverage beginning in mid-December until recently, limiting the amount of golf cart traffic on the course,” Cyboron said.
While the moisture has been a benefit to ICC, Cyboron said they will know more in a month how the snowfall over winter benefited the golf courses in the area.
“All signs are certainly pointing in a positive direction,” he said.
Leagues start in May
Both ELGC and ICC will begin leagues in a little over a month.
At ICC, Wednesday Men’s League will tee off April 26 with the Thursday Men’s League to start the next night.  The Monday 2-Person Scramble League begins May 1 and the Tuesday Ladies League on May 23.
At ELGC, Men’s League will  begin May 3 and Senior Men’s and Ladies’ Leagues start May 4.
“We are excited to welcome players back to the course and added a few new tournaments to our schedule for the year,” Amen said
