Easton Fries signs letter on intent to Concordia College

    Wednesday morning, March 6, Easton Fries signed his letter of intent for the track program at Concordia College. Fries, second from right signed the papers in front of a full auditorium.
    Present at the table with Easton are, (l-r) Head Coach of Track at Concordia College, Matt Beisel, Alicia Fries, (mom), Easton and his dad, Josh Fries. Also speaking at the signing where CCS track coach Carl Zuege and A.D. Troy Hauxwell.
    Fries has qualified each year for the state track meet in Omaha. As a freshman, he qualified in the 300 IM hurdles.
    In his sophomore year, Fries brought home two medals from Omaha, fifth place in the 110 hurdles and seventh place in the 300 hurdles. He also ran a leg of the 1600 relay.
    Last year as a junior, Fries won two golds and two silver medals.
    Fries was second in the 110 meter hurdles, losing to sophomore, Jaxon Knisley of NP St. Pats, who set a new Class C state record in the finals.
    Fries was also second in the 400 meter dash, losing to Lincoln Lutherans’ Logan Lebo.
    Fries got his payback in the 1600 meter relay, holding off Lebo on the final leg to win the gold medal.
    Fries also won the 300 meter hurdles to round out a great junior year. He will be looking to add to his credentials at this years state meet.
