Chase County volleyball runners up at SPVA

At Saturday’s SPVA tournament, Chase County got a bit of a look at what to expect at next week’s C1-12 subdistrict with matches against subdistrict opponents Hershey and Bridgeport.
The Longhorns came into the tournament as the second seed and blew through seventh seeded Kimball in the first round, 25-15, 25-7.
Third seed Bridgeport won its opening game against North Platte St. Pat’s to set up a semifinal match up with CCS.
Chase County never trailed in the first set. The Longhorns took a 13-10 lead and increased it to 22-10 before closing out the 25-12 win.
CCS continued to fire on all cylinders in the second set. After erasing an 8-12 deficit, Chase County finished off the Bulldogs with a 17-3 run.
The win moved the Longhorns into the championship match against Hershey. The Panthers came into the tournament as the number one seed and, with a win over CCS, exited as the tournament champion, as well after not dropping a set all day.
In set one, the Longhorns were within one point through the set’s first 11 points. Hershey pulled away as the set went on and CCS lost the match 15-25.
The Longhorns were tied at 11 with Hershey in set two, but couldn’t stick with the Panthers, losing 15-25.
