Chase County defense steamrolls Kimball

Winter weather continued to wreak havoc on area basketball schedules last week.
The Chase County home games Tuesday against Dundy County Stratton were postponed, leaving only a game against Kimball (1-8) on the Longhorn girls basketball schedule.
Defense was the name of the game for CCS. Chase County’s defense gave up one point in the first half.
The Longhorns’ Bryn McNair scored 15 points in the first half and sophomore Olivia Spady had a very nice offensive night, as well.
CCS Head Coach Alex McNair said Spady had a good night shooting.
Spady scored 14 points in the first half.
Holding a 39-1 lead, CCS went to its bench in the second half, getting all 13 players into the game and taking a 59-12 win.
McNair said CCS played tough defense and continues to control the boards each night.
Chase County held a 25-15 rebounding advantage over Kimball and forced 26 turnovers.
Up next
The Longhorns hosted Southern Valley (8-2) Tuesday evening.
Thursday, CCS will host Perkins County (6-3) then Friday will travel to Gothenburg (9-1).
McNair pointed out all three teams have good records and it should be a tough week for the Longhorns.
Pairings for next week’s SPVA tournament were announced Wednesday morning.
Chase County will face two of its toughest opponent back-to-back following the tournament.
The Longhorns will travel to Hershey (9-2) Jan. 28, then head to Class C1 to face No. 1 Bridgeport (10-0) Jan. 31. Both teams are also subdistrict opponents of CCS.
