Chase County b-ball moves win streak to six in a row

The Longhorns kept the hot streak rolling Friday night when they traveled to Sutherland for the last regular season game of the year.
The Longhorns dominated the 1-18 Sailors, winning the game 75-21. With subdistricts starting on Monday at Prairieview in Ogallala, it was good that the starters got some time off towards the end of the game, allowing some of the younger players some varsity minutes.
The Longhorns piled on the points for the first three quarters, scoring 20, 25 and 25 while holding Sutherland to single digits in every quarter, eight, five, six and two. The Horns called off the dogs in the fourth, only scoring 5.
Tristan Jablonski led all scoring with 17, followed by Cameron Lempke with 16 and Noah Rau with 11. JT Lantis scored 13 of Sutherlands 21 points.
Monday, Feb. 19, the Longhorns traveled to Ogallala to play the first round of the C1-11 subdistrict basketball bracket.
Fourth seeded CCS, 14-9,  faced fifth seed Broken Bow, 3-16, for a chance to come back Tuesday and play number one seed Ogallala, 20-3.
In the first quarter, Broken Bow stuck with the Longhorns, only trailing 8-13 after one. The Longhorns pulled away in the second quarter, assissted by back-to-back-to-back three-pointers, two from Cameron Lempke and one from Tristan Jablonski.
After leading 31-18 at the half, the Longhorns cooled off in the third quarter but matched the output of Broken Bow with each team scoring 11.
The fourth quarter was all Longhorns, who put up 16 points while holding Broken Bow to just three, giving the Longhorns the 58-32 win and keeping their season alive.
Cameron Lempke once again had the hot hand, scoring 17 to go with six rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots. Jensen Olsen scored 14, followed by Easton Fries with 10. Kole Clevenger led the Horns in rebounds with nine.
Broken Bow had three players with six points to lead their scoring.
Tuesday, the Longhorns traveled back to Ogallala for a match-up with the Indians. Ogallala is coming off two straight losses to end the year, dropping games to class B Crete, 58-69, and Gothenburg on Friday, 50-52.
The winner will play the winner of #2 Cozad and #3 Gothenburg, Thursday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. MT.
The Ogallala Indians came out shooting lights out Tuesday in the second round of subdistricts. The Horns fell behind early and there was no catching up.
Ogallala won the game 82-46 to set up either a rematch with Gothenburg, who beat them Friday, or Cozad. Ogallala has beaten Cozad twice this year.
Game details of CCS and Ogallala will be published in next weeks addition.
