Tough week for CCS
Last week was not an easy one for the Longhorns.
Chase County traveled to 8-5 Southern Valley Jan. 11.
Both sides got off to a slow start in the first half. Bryn McNair scored seven of the Longhorns’ 16 first half points in the first quarter. A two pointer by Lucy Spady and three pointer by Landree McNair were Chase County’s only other field goals. CCS trailed 13-16 at halftime.
Chase County’s only offensive production in the third quarter came from four B. McNair free throw.
Trailing 17-24 at the start of the fourth quarter, five points each from Jerzee Milner and Morgan Peterson weren’t enough to pull out a win. CCS lost the game 30-36.
After her seven point first quarter, B. McNair made eight free throws to give her 15 points, in addition to 15 rebounds. Jordan Jablonski had five steals.
Thursday the Longhorns went to Perkins County (7-6) where CCS completely overwhelmed the Plainsmen, 64-30.
    B. McNair found her rhythm once more, scoring 29 points in the first half of the game en route to 31 points and nine rebounds in three quarters.
Jablonski made two three pointers and finished with 10 points in the win.
The Longhorns’ offensive struggles returned Friday against Gothenburg.
Neither team scored for the game’s first 4:30. The teams traded baskets over the remainder of the quarter and CCS trailed 4-7 to start the second quarter.
Scoring picked up  before halftime, but CCS still trailed 14-19 as it headed to the locker room.
The Longhorns tied the game at 23 midway through the third quarter, but found themselves down 25-27 to start the fourth.
CCS couldn’t match Gothenburg’s best offensive quarter of the game as the clock ran down in the 36-44 loss.
    B. McNair scored 14 points and Peterson nine points. B. McNair also had 11 rebounds.
