CCS Longhorn girls put together second straight win

Chase County traveled to Benkelman Tuesday Jan. 2 for games against Dundy Co.-Stratton. The Lady Longhorns held on in the fourth quarter to bring home a 31-26 win.
The Horns started off hot, outscoring DCS 13-6 in the first quarter. Things evened out in the second period with each team putting up eight points, giving the Horns a 21-14 lead at the half.
Scoring eight to DCS’s five in the third gave the Lady Longhorns enough of a lead to hold of the charging Tigers in the fourth period.
The Longhorns tried to slow things down with the lead but the Tigers got a little more aggresive and outscored the Horns 2-7 in the final period, but that still left them five points short and the Longhorns went away with the win.
Turnovers where pretty even with CCS giving the ball up 18 times compared to just 15 for the Tigers. A big difference in the game was the Lady Horns scoring 11 points on second chance baskets while the Tigers only had two.
Landree McNair led all scorers with seven points and also had seven boards. Peyton Owens was credited with six rebounds and Olivia Spady had five.
Kimberly Escobar led the Tigers scoring with six.
