CCS hands Sutherland 30-point loss

It was the week the Chase County girls’ basketball team anticipated, but with the weather wreaking havoc on sports schedules across the state the Longhorns were able to get one last win before Christmas.
The girls’ only match up with Sutherland was moved from Dec. 13 to Dec. 19 as snow canceled school across the area.
Once the Longhorns made it onto the court, CCS Head Coach Alex McNair said his team got off to a slow start, but got it going in the second quarter.
CCS trailed 0-6 to start the game, but after scoring at the five minute mark of the first quarter, the Longhorns went on a 13-4 run to close out the game’s first eight minutes.
CCS opened the second quarter with seven straight points to increase its lead to 20-10. Ali McNair and Bryn McNair made 6-8 free throws to help the Longhorns to a 31-19 lead at halftime.
    B. McNair and Olivia Spady scored all 13 of the Longhorns’ points in the third quarter.
Spady would add a fourth quarter three pointer to give her 14 points on the night.
    B. McNair hit 10-17 free throws in the game and totaled 28 points, thanks in part to 10 offensive rebounds.
    Liz Reeves had six assists.
As with the Wray, Colorado game Dec. 16, McNair was happy to see a variety of players in the scoring column.
