CCS girls are SPVA track champions

    The Lady Longhorns where dominate in their victory at the SPVA Track Meet held in Hershey, April 25. The meet was originally scheduled for Friday, but due to weather forcasts, was moved to Thursday.
    The Longhorns scored points in every event, with multiple athletes scoring in all but the pole vault and long jump. The Longhorns suffered a loss in the jumping feild events when Katelyn Stamm went down with an ACL injury.
    Senior, Ella Colson won the 100m dash, followed closely by sophomore Riley Rusher in second. In the 200m dash, R. Rusher and sophomore Haley Rusher went one and two with junior  Adelle Eskew finishing eighth.
    Sophomore Miranda Spady won the 400 and 800 meter run. H. Rusher was second and sophomore Dylan Heerman sixth in the 400. Freshman Elizabeth Hanna finished fourth in the 800 and second in the 3200.
    The Horns took second, third and fourth in the 1600 with freshman Kate Colson, junior Landree McNair and freshman Aria McNair respectively.
    Sophomores Anna Aragon and Paige Nickless finished fourth and seventh in the 3200.
    Senior Tristan Nordhausen, sophomore Karlie Anderson and freshman Kadence Wallin finished third, fourth and sixth respectively in the 100 hurdles.
    Junior Peyton Owens took second in the 300 hurdles with Anderson in fourth and Norhausen in fifth.
    The 4x100 relay took second, 4x400 first and 4x800 first. The relay teams have no seniors running in them, so all runners should be returning next year.
    In the throws, it was a pair of seniors leading the way with Kylee Wiest fourth and Brooke Schilke eighth in the shot. Wiest was second in the discus while Schilke placed fifth.
    Anderson and L. McNair placed fifth and sixth in the high jump, Aria McNair fifth in pole vault, Eskew second in long jump and Owens, sophomore Marley Randall and Eskew finished second, third and eighth respectively in the triple jump.
    The girls traveled to The Best In The Midwest Invitational on Tuesday, April 30. The last meet before districts is scheduled for Friday, May 3 in Benkelman.
    Districts will be May 9 in Bayard. Other teams competing in Bayard will be Bridgeport, Gordon-Rushville, Hemingford, Hershey, Kimball, Mitchell, Morrill and Perkins County.
