CCS freshman wins division at State Games
peted in state junior high track meets the past two seasons. Now, she has another state experience, and success, under her belt.
The freshman at Chase County Schools won the age 13-14 division in the 400 meter at the Cornhusker State Games Saturday in Lincoln.
She bettered the six others in her age group with a first place time of 1:04.1 at the Lincoln High track.
Not only did her win earn a gold medal, it also qualified her for the National State Games of America in July 2024 in San Diego. Those national games are held every two years, and 2023 is the off year.
This past year, after competing on Chase County’s junior high track team, she competed at the state junior high meet in the 400 and 800. As a seventh grader, she was at state in the 400 and 4x4 relay.
She had a good-sized fan club cheering her on at Saturday’s State Games event. Nineteen family and friends made the trip for the competition.
Her parents are Jonas and Lyndsay (Hanes) Randall of Imperial.
