CCS boys improve basketball record to 9-8 with win

CCS basketball boys have a winning record for the first time this year with the 62-52 win over Southern Valley. After a brutal starting schedule that included six out of nine state ranked teams, the Longhorns got their record on the positive side of 500.
Southern Valley, 9-9, wasn’t going to go down easy. It was a hard fought win for CCS.
After both teams scored 17 in the first quarter, the Longhorns opened up a lead in the second, outscoring the Eagles 18-11, to take a 35-28 lead into the lockerroom.
Southern Valley was a little more productive turning turnovers into points. The Eagles scored 17 points on Chase County’s 19 turnovers, while the Horns scored 13 off the 18 turnovers by the Eagles.
The biggest difference in the game was the Horns scoring 13 second chance points and holding Southern Valley to zero.
After the Eagles cut Chase County’s lead by one in the third quarter, the Horns outscored the Eagles by four in the fourth to take the 62-52 win.
Kamden Bose of Southern Valley lead all scorers, with 19. Chase County had four players in double digits. Jensen Olsen led the Horns with 18, followed by Lempke with 11 and Fries and Rau with 10. Olsen was also credited with six steals.
