Broncos ready to take on RPAC Thursday

    With less than two weeks between the RPAC meet and the D7 district track meet, the Wauneta-Palisade track teams continue to stay busy and hit personal bests.
    The Broncos were at the Hitchcock County Invite April 19.
    Head Coach Dawn Doetker said WP was focused on everyone on the team earning a letter at the meet and they did.
    “The faces of those who lettered was so great! It was well worth it,” she said, adding she’s proud of her whole team for being a part of it.
    Kyle Jutten won the boys’ high jump.
    Throwers continue to excel for WP.
    Peyton Cox won the shot put and GraCee Goings came out on top in the discus. Goings was also second in the shot put.
    Jacksen Littrel had a PR and placed second in shot put, then turned around and took third place in the discus.
    Other girls with top five finishes included Jewel Holthus taking second in the 400-meter dash with a season best and fourth in the 800 with a PR; Lillian Dinnel third in the triple jump and  fifth in the 800 and high jump; Ryleigh McCrumb, fourth, pole vault; Cheyenne Parrish, fifth, 200; and Cox, sixth, discus.
    The 1,600-meter relay team of McCrumb, Maggie DeWester, Dinnel and Holthus placed fourth.
    The boys’ 1,600-meter relay, Ashton McCrumb, Aden Acton, Konner McCrumb and Trey McCrumb, was fourth and the 400-meter relay, Gabriel McCrumb, Noah Sandman, Gregory Littrel and Draven Miner, placed fifth.
    Acton placed fourth in the triple jump with a PR.

Up next
    The Broncos headed to Benkelman for the RPAC meet Thursday. Field events are scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start.
    Best of the Midwest will be Tuesday in Sutherland. That will be followed by the Dundy County Stratton Twilight next Friday.
