Broncos fall to Sioux Co. 12-20 on the gridiron
The Bronco football team dropped a tough battle against Sioux County on the road Friday night.
In a defensive game the only score in the first quarter came from Sioux Co. on a 21 yard run. The two point conversion was good leaving the Broncos trailing 0-8.
The second quarter would only yield one score and it came from the Broncos when Nathan Blackman launched a 14 yard pass to Aden Acton for Wauneta-Palisades first score of the night. The kick by Gabe McCrumb was no good leaving the Broncos trailing 6-8. That was the score going into half time.
Sioux Co. got on the board again in the third quarter with a nine yard touchdown pass but missed on the extra point attempt giving them a 6-14 lead.
In the fourth quarter Sioux County scored with a one yard plunge but failed on the extra point attempt giving them a 6-20 lead.
The Broncos kept fighting and closed the gap with a 25 yard pass from Blackman to Blake Nickerson to get the Broncos within striking distance. Even though the extra point failed, the Broncos only trailed by one possession.
Unfortunately time ran out and the game ended 12-20 to give the Broncos a second straight loss.
The Broncos won the turnover battle after losing two fumbles but recovering two fumbles and making two interceptions.
Now the Broncos will have a week off to prepare for Southwest coming to town Friday Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. mt.
