Broncos end season with a 62-53 win over Brady

    It was a rough year for the Wauneta-Palisade football team but at least it ended with a win.
    The Broncos traveled to Brady Friday Oct. 20 for the final football game of the year. It would be a game that was full of offense with the two teams combining for 115 points.
    Kreyton Wiese couldn’t be stopped, carrying the ball 24 times for 268 yards and 7 touchdowns.
    Brady would start the scoring in the first quarter on a 21 yard pass play. A successful two point conversion gave them the early 0-8 lead.
    The Broncos came back with a 55 yard run from Kreyton Wiese. The kick by Wiese failed leaving the Broncos trailing 6-8.
    The Eagles scored first in the second quarter on a 12 yard pass. The kick was no good. The Broncos bounced back with a 40 yard run from Wiese. Wiese also ran the two point conversion in to tie the game at 14.
    The Eagles kept it in the air with two more touchdown passes in the second quarter, one for 26 yards and the other for 37. The Eagles made one kick and missed the other to bring their lead to 14-27.
    On the kickoff following the last score, Wiese picked up a short kick and ran it back 38 yards for a TD. Once again Wiese ran it in for the two point conversion. The Broncos found themselves trailing 22-27 at the half.
    In the third quarter, Grayden Sutherland got into the scoring mix with a 36 yard touchdown run. The kick by Wiese was no good. The Eagles responded with a 19 yard touchdown pass.  The kick was no good.
    Wiese came back with another touchdown run of 30 yards but was unable to convert on the kick giving the Broncos the lead 34-33.
    The Eagles scored their only rushing touchdown of the night when they ran it in from 32 yards out. The two point conversion was good.
    Sutherland scored on a 31 yard rumble and Wiese ran it in for two.
    Still in the third quarter the Eagles scored on a 48 yard pass. The two point conversion failed but Brady led at the end of the third quarter 42-47.
    In the fourth quarter Wiese scored the next three touchdowns with runs of 3, 20 and 16 yards respectfully. The kick was no good after the first, two point conversion failed after the second and Wiese converted on the two point conversion on the third to give the Broncos a 62-47 lead.
    The Eagles scored one last time on a 10 yard pass but missed the kick to end the game with the Broncos winning 62-53.
