Awards many for Hayes, Oklahoma baseball team

    Imperial native Bryan Hayes and his Oklahoma high school baseball team was recognized on several levels following this year’s season.
    Hayes, a 21-year teacher and coach at Perry High School, was named the large school Coach of the Year by the North West Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association.
    Hayes has coached boys’ junior high and high school baseball at Perry. This year, he completed his 11th year as the high school coach and his team earned a spot in the  Oklahoma State Tournament.
    Three of his players were selected to the All-Star team and his shortstop was MVP of the All-Star game. The same shortstop also earned Player of the Year honors.
    Hayes, who also cares for the school’s baseball field, earned another accolade when the school received the Field of the Year award.
    In the fall, Hayes has coached girls’ softball all his years at Perry and has consistently won districts and taken the team to state twice.
    He is the son of Randy and Margene Hayes of Imperial.
