Area athletes earn all state honorable mention

    The Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald have announced their fall volleyball and football all-state teams.
    Several area athletes earned honorable mention recognition.
    For both papers, Chase County’s Bryn McNair, Gisselle Acuna, Jerzee Milner and Chloe Dillan were Class C1 Honorable Mention.
    Peyton Cox, Alexa Sandman and Halle Bardlsey were OWH Class D2 Honorable Mention for Wauneta-Palisade. Sandman and Cox were named to the LJS list.
    The OWH Class C1 first team was Abby Wachal, Lincoln Lutheran; Ashley Keck, Kearney Catholic; Kali Jurgensmeier, Wahoo Neumann; Mya Larson, Wahoo; Lilly Rowe, Columbus Lakeview; Sydney Conner, Kearney Catholic; and Keri Leimbach, Lincoln Lutheran. The Lincoln Journal Star switched out Rowe for Columbus Lakeview’s Maddi Vogt.
    The World Herald’s Class D2 first team included Erison Vonderschmidt, Falls City Sacred Heart; Karli Heidemann, Diller-Odell; Olivia Hansen, Maywood/Hayes Center; Kylee Wessel, Humphrey St. Francis; Cameran Jansky, Exeter-Milligan; Karley Heimens, Wynot; and Rachel Magdanz, FCSH.
    Hansen and teammate Aniah Seller were second team Class D2 in the Journal Star.
    The World Herald and Journal Star Class D1 first teams included from the RPAC Alma’s Carlee Stuhmer and CCS opponent Overton’s JoLee Ryan. WP faced SEM’s Mikah O’Neill who was second team Class D2.
    On the gridiron, WP’s Grant Walker was World Herald Class D6 honorable mention.
    Other area athletes recognized were Carson Glunz, Wallace, first team Class D6; Keegan Shuler, Hitchcock County, Eight man 1; and Quade Myers, Dundy County Stratton, Eight man 1.
